As 2009 rolls on, we're seeing some truly incredible phones emerging. Let's take a look at 3 that show their respective operating systems at their best: the Toshiba TG01, the Nokia N97 and the astounding Palm Pre...
Toshiba TG01 - Windows on the soul
There's little doubt that Windows Mobile is one of the big operating systems in the world. However, to get the best out of it, you really need a phone with a fast processor, a big screen, and a custom user interface on top, not unlike the Sony Ericsson X1 or HTC's range of handset. Well now, there's a new kid in town, called the Toshiba TG01, and it fulfils all three of those criteria. Not only that, but as well as the custom interface, it has the biggest screen of any mobile phone, and the fastest processor, coming in at 4.1 inches, and 1GHz, respectively. The Toshiba TG01 is quite simply the most powerful Windows Mobile phone out there, and as well as that, it also features Toshiba's patented screen driver technology, from their range of big-screen TVs. Put simply, as an entertainment machine, before you even get to the fact it has super fast internet, and built-in Office software, it's the equivalent of a huge, widescreen TV, in the palm of your hand!
Nokia N97 - a fusion between computer and phone
Meanwhile, form the Finnish camp comes the Nokia N97, running on the new Symbian Touch interface. The Nokia N97 comes with a full touchscreen interface, but enhances that with a full QWERTY keyboard, making web surfing (with HSDPA speeds), email or instant messaging both easy and enthralling. In terms of entertainment, the Nokia N97 comes with a pin-sharp 5 megapixel camera, a superb range of media options, including music and video on that big screen, and a massive 32Gb of internal memory to store all of those songs and movies! Essentially, their own description of the Nokia N97 was bang on the money: it's not just a phone, it's a fully featured mobile computer!
Palm Pre - like nothing you've EVER seen before...
There's one soon-to-be-upcoming phone, though, that can top even the heady power of the Toshiba TG01. That may be the pinnacle of Windows Mobile's evolution so far, and the Nokia N97 may have a brand new version of Symbian to run on, but the Palm Pre is new in every sense of the word. Hardware, software, and even the experience of using the phone: it's like nothing ever experienced on ANY mobile phone. The interface on the Palm Pre is both intuitive and sleek, and capable of true multitasking. It pulls all of your contact info from different sources into one 'card' for each contact. And the design of the Palm Pre is nothing short of breathtaking, with smooth, sleek lines, and a feel unlike any other phone. Within the next few months, only one phone is going to truly wow the world, with its 'new-ness', and that phone is the stunning Palm Pre.
